Assistant/Associate Professorships in Theoretical Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence - University of Luxembourg
In the context of its Anne Beffort Excellence Programme, which prioritizes the recruitment of female scholars, the University of Luxembourg is opening within its Computer Science department
two assistant/associate Professor positions:
- 1. Theoretical Computer Science
- 2. Artificial Intelligence
Depending on the qualification, the position will be offered as an assistant professorship (tenure track) resp. an associate professorship (tenured), with a promotion perspective to associate resp. full professor after 5 years following a positive evaluation.
In addition to the resources offered by the faculty, there will be a global 5-year start-up package of 250K Euro, together with other forms of assistance and grant opportunities.
The Theoretical Computer Science position is open to candidates from all relevant subfields, including (but not limited to) Logic and Reasoning (in Computer Science/AI), Computational learning, Computational complexity, Theory of algorithms (incl. parallel, quantum).
The Artificial Intelligence position is open to candidates from any AI subfield, including (but not limited to) Neurosymbolic/Agentic Computing, Knowledge representation and reasoning, Natural language processing, Human-centered AI, or Artificial general intelligence.

The Individual and Collective Reasoning group of Leon van der Torre is one of the leading applied logic groups in Europe, with a current focus on normative reasoning, formal argumentation, and the logic-based foundations of AI, with an interest in hybrid approaches.
