Dear Colleagues in the Knowledge Representation Community,
We are pleased to invite submissions to NeLaMKRR 2025 — the Second
International Workshop on Next-Generation Language Models for Knowledge
Representation and Reasoning, which will be held in conjunction with the
22nd International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and
Reasoning (KR 2025) in Melbourne, Australia, November 11–17, 2025.
This workshop explores how to bridge the gap between the structured
precision of knowledge representation and the emerging capabilities of
large language models (LLMs). As experts in ontologies, formal
representations, and reasoning mechanisms, your contributions are vital to
advancing this dialogue and ensuring that LLM-based systems can reason in
ways that are principled, transparent, and reliable.
TOPICS OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO THE KR COMMUNITY include (but are not limited
to):
- Representing and formalizing the reasoning behaviors of LLMs
- Integrating symbolic knowledge representation with neural language models
- Frameworks and methodologies for representing LLM reasoning within KR
formalisms
- Deductive, inductive, and abductive reasoning as manifested in LLMs
- Verification and validation of LLM-based reasoning against formal KR
standards
- Techniques for injecting structured knowledge into neural systems
- Comparing formal KR-based reasoning and informal, data-driven reasoning
- Applications of KR in domains demanding high reasoning precision (e.g.,
law, science, medicine)
We welcome contributions that bring rigorous, KR-informed approaches to
understanding and improving the reasoning capabilities of language models.
Both theoretical innovations and applied methodologies are encouraged.
Submission categories:
Regular papers: up to 9 pages
Short papers: up to 5 pages
Both should follow the KR 2025 formatting guidelines. We particularly
encourage submissions that develop formal foundations for LLM reasoning or
propose novel strategies for combining symbolic and neural paradigms within
KR frameworks.
Important Dates:
Submission Deadline: August 1, 2025 (AOE)
Notification to Authors: August 21, 2025
Camera-ready Papers Due: September 11, 2025
Workshop Dates: November 11–13, 2025
