We are looking for an outstanding candidate for this research on robust
and certifiable machine learning under the supervision of Professor
Marta Kwiatkowska.

You will be working with the "European Lighthouse on Secure and Safe AI"
(ELSA) project (https://cispa.de/en/elsa), a virtual centre of
excellence aiming to promote the development and deployment of
cutting-edge AI solutions for security and safety. ELSA networks
excellent researchers from 26 top research institutions and companies in
Europe and is coordinated by the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information
Security in Saarbrücken.

Under the supervision of Professor Marta Kwiatkowska, you will develop
techniques and software for designing robust and certifiable machine
learning models, with the goal of developing novel solutions that enable
scaling to more complex properties and neural networks. You will have
responsibility for: carrying out research as outlined above, including
software tool development; collaborating with ELSA consortium members
and other members of her team if appropriate; and assisting with
management of the project and project reporting, as required. The post
holder will also have an opportunity to engage in teaching, and to
provide guidance to junior members of the research group, including PhD
and MSc students.

You should hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in computer science or
related discipline and a proven track record of publications and
software development in machine learning and neural networks,
adversarial robustness and/or formal verification. You will lead on the
research aspects of the project, exploring and defining the best way to
approach the project goals. We would expect to find a range of
publishable research outcomes to arise from this.

Applicants will be required to upload a supporting statement, setting
out how you meet the selection criteria.

*The closing date for applications is noon on 16th of January 2023.
Interviews are expected to be held in January.*

We are a Stonewall Top 100 Employer, Living Wage and Mindful Employer,
holding an Athena Swan Bronze Award, HR excellence in Research and Race
Equality Charter Bronze Award.

Our staff and students come from all over the world and we proudly
promote a friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively
encouraged, through diversity groups and champions, as well as a number
of family-friendly policies, such as the right to apply for flexible
