The National Science Foundation (NSF) released a new AI Research
Institutes solicitation:

National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Institutes (nsf22502) |
NSF - National Science Foundation

In particular, here is a quote from Theme 4: AI for Decision Making:
“Research at the Institute for AI for Decision Making will develop
breakthroughs in AI that are framed by underlying principles of decision
making, develop novel methodologies based on those principles and
propose decision support of real-world use cases. The proposal must aim
at making clear foundational contributions to areas at the intersection
of AI and decision making, such as (not an exclusive list) causal
modeling, planning, and knowledge representation and reasoning. Use case
domains could include political science, public health, economics,
climate change, or any other domain(s) of national importance.”

If interested please review the solicitation above. For questions and
comments, please email hmunoz at nsf.gov

A note regarding non US participation: NSF rarely provides direct
funding support to foreign organizations. NSF will consider proposals
for cooperative projects involving U.S. and foreign organizations,
provided support is requested only for the U.S. portion of the
collaborative effort.
