The Faculty of Engineering and Sciences (FES) of Universidad Adolfo
Iba~nez (UAI) is pleased to invite researchers to apply for up to
three open-rank faculty positions in Machine Learning/Artificial
Intelligence, and three open-rank positions in Statistics due to
start as early as March 1st, 2021.

Job description

The FES seeks candidates with demonstrated excellence in research,
teaching and service and with expertise in both theory and
applications of Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence. In
particular, we seek candidates with any of the following research
lines:

     Neural networks/Deep learning
     Probabilistic Graphical Models
     Statistical relational learning
     Optimization methods in ML
     Statistical Learning Theory (SVMs, Kernel-based methods, …)
     Automated Decision Support Systems
     Recommender systems

For Statistics, the following research areas are relevant:

     Spatial statistics
     Hierarchical modeling (both frequentist and Bayesian)
     Statistical/machine learning
     Computational statistics
     Image and text processing
     Causal inference
     Statistical genetics
     Data visualization
     Longitudinal data
     Bayesian statistics
     Recommendation algorithms
     High-dimensional statistics

Faculty members at FES are expected to teach, in Spanish and/or
English, undergraduate and graduate courses related to Machine
Learning/Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, supervise
theses, conduct high quality research, publish in top international
journals, submit research proposals to national, international and
multinational funding organizations, and participate in outreach
activities. FES also encourages and welcomes technological transfer
and research in collaboration with the industry and the government.

Requirements include a PhD degree in Machine Learning/Artificial
Intelligence/Computer Science/Statistics or a related field, and an
academic productivity level that complies with the Chilean CNA
accreditation board guidelines. In particular, for the Associate
Professor or Full Professor position, at least seven publications
in Web-of-Science indexed journals over the last five years, and
experience leading research grants and guiding postgraduate
students. Experience in academic administration is a plus.
