UCL's Department of Information Studies (UCL DIS) seeks to appoint a world-leading scholar as a Professor of Information Studies. The post is available from February 2018, and the closing date for applications is 31 January 2018.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to carry out research at a world-leading standard in terms of originality, significance and rigour, and to publish in the most prestigious locations. S/he will also be expected to play a leading role in maintaining the research environment within UCL DIS, and engage in external activities that bring national and international esteem to both the department and UCL. S/he will also teach and supervise students at undergraduate, graduate and PhD level, and play a full part in the life of the department, UCL and the wider research community, including key administrative duties and the pastoral case of students.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have recognition as a leading authority within at least one of the established research areas of UCL DIS, which include: Library and Information Studies; Archives and Records Management; Publishing; Digital Humanities; Information Management, Policy and Governance; Information and Data Science; and Knowledge Organisation and Knowledge-based Systems. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates with significant expertise in more than one of these fields. S/he will have an outstanding record of original research and of peer-reviewed publication, including a strong submission for the UK's Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessment in 2021. S/he will have the capacity to develop exciting future projects and proven capacity for intellectual leadership.
