Special Issue on "Cloud Computing Service and Architecture Models"

CfP URL: http://www.elsevierscitech.com/cfp/Elsevier-INS-CfP-SI-Cloud_Computing.pdf

Paper submission deadline: March 31, 2011
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cloud computing represents a new paradigm where computing resources are being offered as services and accessed by others from anywhere in the world
via Internet. In this approach, the cloud is the single point of access to the computing needs of the cloud users. The cloud services are
characterized by being fully managed by the provider, being sold on demand, and being elastic as users can have as much of a service as they need in a
particular moment. This new approach provides important benefits such as cost reduction, higher device and location independence, higher reliability
and scalability, improved resource utilization, etc. However, there are several open issues that still need to be addressed such as the loss of
control over sensitive data, the definition of new management and integration models or the lack of standards.

This special issue of Information Sciences will present a set of articles that cover recent research results on cloud computing. In particular, it
aims to present highly technical papers describing novel cloud computing service and architecture models addressing any of the following specific
topics: security, privacy, and trust, mobile users support and mobile clouds, (self-) management, infrastructure-platform-application integration, and
federation of and internetworking between clouds.

This special issue is aimed at readers interested in recent and novel cloud computing models providing a solution to key open problems existing
nowadays at the service and architecture levels.

About the issue
---------------
This special issue seeks original articles on the following specific cloud computing topics:

- Security, Privacy, and Trust models
- Models for supporting mobility in the cloud and mobile clouds
- Fault-tolerance, reliability and consistency models
- Maintenance and (self-)management models
- Infrastructure-platform-application integration models
- Models for creating and managing federations of clouds and internetworking between clouds (InterClouds)

Important dates
---------------
Paper submission: 31-03-2011
Acceptance notification: 31-07-2011
Final papers: 15-10-2011

Submission format
-----------------
Papers will be evaluated based on their originality, presentation, relevance and contribution to the field of cloud computing, as well as their
suitability to the special issue, and for their overall quality. The submitted papers must be written in excellent English and describe original
research which has not been published nor currently under review by other journals or conferences. Previously published conference papers should be
clearly identified by the authors (at the submission stage) and an explanation should be provided how such papers have been extended to be considered
for this special issue. Guest editors will make an initial determination of the suitability and scope of all submissions. Papers that either lack
originality, clarity in presentation or fall outside the scope of the special issue will not be sent for review and the authors will be promptly
informed in such cases.
