Call for Videos for the KR 2026 Video Track
Following the success of the two first editions of KR’s video track, we are excited to launch the third edition held at the 23rd International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR 2026). The call for submissions is now open!
The video track has three goals:
- Boost KR’s reach—Help researchers share their work in ways that a wider public can enjoy and understand.
- Spotlight interesting applications and insights—Give KR work a stage, whether it’s breakthroughs for science, industry, or just curious minds!
- Sharpen your science communication skills—Challenge your ability to explain KR concepts with clarity, creativity, and confidence using a different medium!
One video will receive special recognition: the Best Video Award, selected both by the PC and by the KR 2026 participants. The winners will be announced during the conference. All accepted videos will be published on the official KR Conference YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@krconferenceseries9472).
Authors of accepted videos are not obliged to register for the KR 2026 conference. However, we would be delighted to congratulate authors of the award winning video at the conference award ceremony in person.
Topics of Interest
The topic of the video can be from any field of knowledge representation and reasoning. We want to encourage in particular submissions that can be useful educational resources for the community or make KR results, projects or even software more approachable for a broader audience. This includes videos not only targeted at members of the KR community, but also at researchers outside of KR, undergraduate and post-graduate students, high-school students or the general public. Possible video topics include, but are not limited to:
- Introduction to a particular research area or a research project relevant to KR.
- Visualisation of concepts, methods or research results relevant to KR.
- Introduction of non-commercial software tools developed for KR or relevant for KR researchers.
For examples and inspiration, please check the KR'24 and KR'25 videos: https://www.youtube.com/@krconferenceseries9472/playlists
Technical requirements for the video
- Video must be relevant to the KR audience. If in doubt, consult the calls for the main and special tracks (https://kr.org/KR2026/call_main_track.html), or send us an email (address at the end of the present call).
- Videos must be in English or include English subtitles.
- Video length should be 3 - 15 minutes.
- Video format: AVI or MPEG4.
- Videos must adhere to copyright laws.
Authors are welcome to chose any "style" of video. Inspiration can be found in the rich variety of videos submitted at the editions of the Summer of Math Exposition (https://some.3b1b.co/). Notice that many of these use the Python library Manim to generate animations (https://www.manim.community/).
Submission information
A one-page PDF document with information on the video, including:
- Names, affiliations and email addresses of video authors.
- Title of the video.
- A link to the video. Authors are welcome to use any repository to host their videos (see for example https://zenodo.org/), we only require for the video to be downloadable from the chosen repository.
- Brief abstract describing the video's content (from one sentence to one paragraph).
- Description of the targeted audience, eg researchers in KR / in other domains, undergraduate and post-graduate students, high-school students or the general public.
Video contributions can be submitted via HotCRP by selecting the KR Video Track. For more information, see https://kr.org/KR2026/submission.html.
Evaluation criteria
- Presentation quality: the video makes good use of visual medium. For instance, submissions of static, one-shot recordings of a talk are not encouraged.
- Educational and/or diffusion value: Is the presented material conducive to learning and understanding?
- Soundness: The facts stated in the video must be consistent with existing research.
- Suitability for target audience: How suitable is the presentation style for the target audience?
- Entertainment value: Is it enjoyable to watch?
