It was decided to reinstate the practice of awarding an Outstanding Paper prize at KR'98. The criteria included the originality, significance and technical strength of the paper, as well as the quality of the presentation at the conference.
The award has been made jointly to the following two papers:
The award was sponsored by Morgan Kaufmann Inc., and the prize of $500 will be shared equally between the two authors.
